Slack and Linear

Slack and Linear are add-ons that are coming soon: they are not open to every organisation yet, and until we turn them on for yours their tiles in Sources say "Not available yet". Write to support@bharatreachdsp.com if you would like them when they open. This page describes how they work once they are on.

Slack

Connect

An owner or admin chooses Connect Slack in Sources. One Slack workspace belongs to one organisation. Then add the app to a channel (/invite @align) and map each channel to the repositories it talks about (up to 20 per channel). Uninstalling the app in Slack removes the connection, its links and its mappings.

Ask

Mention the app with a question: @align why do we queue invoice emails?. It searches the channel's repositories (or every repository you can read, when the channel has none). The answer is posted in the thread only when everything it cites is confirmed and every member of the channel can read it, and the channel is private and not shared; otherwise the thread says how many decisions were found and the answer is sent to you privately. A direct message to the app is a private question.

Record, confirm and ask someone

In a mention or a direct messageEffect
record: <statement>records a confirmed decision, with the message as its receipt
confirm AL-19confirms a proposal
ask @person <question>sends the question to its owner

record: and ask work in public channels and in a direct message with the app. To record, confirm, ask or answer, link your Slack account first: Your settings → Link Slack (needed when your Slack email differs from your ALIGN one).

Questions to their owners

An open question is sent to its owner as a direct message, one at a time per owner. Replying in that thread records the answer as a decision.

The weekly digest in a channel

Weekly digest post in Sources can post the weekly digest's counts and a console link to a channel; no statements or names. It posts only to a private, unshared channel whose members can all read the repositories counted.

What is stored

Only messages that mention the app or are sent to it, redacted and at most 4,000 characters, readable only by the people who could read them in Slack. Messages that no decision cites are deleted, and a question's text once it is answered. Channel history is never read.

Linear

Connect

An owner or admin of your organisation who is also a Linear workspace admin chooses Connect Linear in Sources, then maps each Linear team to the repository its issues are about. One workspace belongs to one organisation. Members link their own Linear account in Your settings so briefs can include the decisions they can read.

Briefs

Mention the app on an issue. It replies with a brief: Already decided, Still open and the issue's Contract, with a link to each entry. Statements are included only when an owner or admin turns on Put decision statements in Linear briefs in Settings; otherwise keys and links only. Quotes are never shown.

Contracts and the PR check

ALIGN extracts an issue's acceptance criteria from its description, with exact quotes, and updates them when the description changes. When a pull request names the issue (in its branch name, title or as a Linear attachment) and the issue's team is mapped to the repository, the PR comment shows how many criteria the change covers, by number only.
